In only a few weeks we’ll be setting back our clocks by one hour to observe Daylight Savings Time. So what, you say? Big deal, you say?
Let’s make a fun day out of it, I say!
San Diego’s own Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation agrees. In fact, it has created a whole festival to observe the event and celebrate a little piece of San Diego’s wild west history at the same time.
I sold books at this wonderful event two years ago, and while I won’t be doing so this year, I will be stopping by! So I thought I’d share the details on this year’s festival.
The 18th Annual Fall Back Festival: A Children’s Historical Street Faire
WHEN: Sunday, November 4th, 2018, 11am – 4pm
WHERE: The heart of the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, CA – in front of the Davis Horton House, which is the oldest residence in the Gaslamp Quarter. The event runs through 4th Avenue between Market Street and J Street and Island Avenue between 4th and 5th Avenues.
WHAT: It’s a Sunday fun-day for the entire family at the 18th Annual Fall Back Festival! Bring the whole gang down for a day of play and educational fun in the historic Gaslamp Quarter.
Take a stroll down the historical streets of the Gaslamp Quarter and fall back into San Diego’s wild past of the 1880’s. The whole family is engaged in the magical old-fashioned atmosphere that the Fall Back Festival brings to life each year. History comes alive as kids pan for gold with actual prospectors, observe a blacksmith displaying his trade, and saddle up for an adventurous pony ride. You’ll find fun activities for the entire family, as well as unique items and tasty treats for sale!
COST: FREE admission! All ages. Family-focused.
